explores the life and music of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, widely regarded as one of the world’s best small orchestras.
The ACO comprises 17 highly talented young string players from all corners of the globe, who undergo a rigorous audition and trial process to become a core member of the group. The unforgiving probation ensures that the orchestra maintains the qualities that set it apart; the richness of their sound and the ability to play as if they were one player on one indescribably beautiful instrument.
Led by the energetic and fiery Richard Tognetti, an unrelenting tour schedule takes the ACO around the world in an effort to secure a global audience. Despite this grueling schedule, the ACO play each concert with total dedication, driven by the incredibly high standards they set themselves.
Featuring performances with Pieter Wispelwey, Genevieve Lacey and pop singer Neil Finn, Musical Renegades looks at the joys and the personal costs of this job for these young men and women.
