Tim Slade

Tim is a writer, director and producer whose films have screened on television, theatrically and at film festivals across 6 continents. 


Originally from Sydney, Australia, Tim is currently based in New York City. His films have screened at over 70 international film festivals and have been broadcast in more than 30 territories. He has won best film and audience awards at film festivals for both documentary and drama films.

His feature documentary 4 was released theatrically, won a Gold Plaque at the Chicago HUGO Television Awards, and received nominations at the Banff World Television Festival, the International Documentary Association (IDA) Awards, as well as nominations for two AFI (Australian Film Institute) awards, including Best Documentary Feature. It was broadcast widely, including on PBS.

The Destruction of Memory, released in June 2016, has been broadcast in more than 20 territories, including in German speaking territories on ZDF, and has screened widely internationally including officially for the United Nations. To date it has garnered four film festival awards.

Tim has written and directed drama, including the shorts Every Other Weekend and I Was Robert MitchumAs a writer, he has had documentary and drama scripts commissioned by government agencies in Australia, including Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Screen Tasmania, as well as a feature docudrama screenplay commissioned by French broadcaster Arte. 

His writing has been read and performed by actors including the Oscar®, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated actress Sophie Okonedo, who narrated The Destruction of Memory, and Australian Film Institute Best Actress winner Kerry Armstrong, who narrated Blank Canvas. He is currently writing several television series concepts and feature film screenplays.

As a producer, Tim has negotiated pre-buy deals with international broadcasters, including ITVS (USA), NHK (Japan), SBS (Australia), YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), TVO (Canada) and Al Jazeera (Balkans). His early films were produced by Kylie du Fresne of Goalpost Pictures (Cleverman, The Sapphires).

His branded work includes projects for Nissan/Infiniti, IBM, Cisco, and for many clients in the USA, Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
