Tim Slade

WRITER | DIRECTOR | PRODUCER

Tim has written, directed and produced films and television programs, playing at different times one of those roles, or two, or all three. He has won best film and audience awards at international film festivals for both documentary and drama films.

In all, his films have been broadcast in 26 territories, including on ZDF and PBS, and at 65 film festivals. 

As a writer, he has had documentary and drama scripts commissioned by federal and state government agencies in Australia, including Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Screen Tasmania, as well as a feature docudrama screenplay by French broadcaster Arte. 

His writing has been read and performed by actors including the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated Sophie Okonedo, who narrated The Destruction of Memory, and Australian Film Institute Best Actress winner Kerry Armstrong, who narrated Blank Canvas. He is currently writing several television series concepts and feature film screenplays.

As a producer, Tim has negotiated pre-buy deals with international broadcasters, including ITVS (USA), NHK (Japan), SBS (Australia), YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), TVO (Canada) and Al Jazeera (Balkans). 

His early short drama and television documentary films, including I was Robert Mitchum, Sydney 2000 and Musical Renegades, were produced by Kylie du Fresne of Goalpost Pictures (Cleverman, The Sapphires, Holding the Man).

The feature documentary 4, television documentary Blank Canvas and short drama Every Other Weekend were produced by Vast Productions, based in Sydney, Australia, and the feature documentary The Destruction of Memory was produced by Vast Productions USA, based in New York City.
